Dreamland is a visually striking Facebook RPG that invites players to explore breath-taking fantasy worlds and defeat nasty Nightmares. Dreamland is developed by Manhattan-based social games startup FreshPlanet.
The original concept and early gameplay were largely designed by Creative Directors Naomi Clark and Eric Zimmerman. I participated in the development in its initial stages, and later took on a lead role after Naomi and Eric moved on to other projects.
As a long-time fan of roleplaying games, Dreamland has been a deeply rewarding return to my roots. I’ve contributed to the game design in every respect: from level creation to mission narrative and balancing the combat encounters. Working on Dreamland instilled within me a resounding appreciation for systems design – particularly the overlapping economies of player stats, combat difficulty, and item power levels.
